McDade Papers Donated to University
Congressman Joseph M. McDade, retiring after a distinguished 36-year career, has donated his congressional papers to The University of Scranton. The papers consist of legislation, correspondence, case files, project files, newsletters, memorabilia, campaign materials, subject files, audio-visual materials, and other materials documenting Mr. McDade's career since 1963. > Full story
Work Continues on Polakoff Collection
Archival processing work continues on the Joseph Polakoff Collection with approximately half of the collection having been processed. Polakoff, a 1932 graduate, started his career in journalism for the college newspaper and then wrote for the Scranton Tribune. > Full story

Malachy McCourtMalachy McCourt, author of the best-selling memoir A Monk Swimming, received the Distinguished Author Award from The University of Scranton's Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library on Wednesday April 7, on the University's campus. > Full story

The Lewis and Clark MemorabiliaExhibition Coordinators and Photography Exhibitions are now open to the public. The Heritage Room of the Library houses the memorabilia display. a University of Scranton first. Photographs are exhibited in the Gallery. Public libraries in Pennsylvania will receive a huge boost in their annual operating budgets if Governor Tom Ridge's proposal to increase state funding by 106% over current funding levels passes through the legislature. > Full story

The University of Scranton, as part of a consortium of four Jesuit universities, is currently pursuing a three-year grant from the Pew Charitable Trust to develop a comparative assessment of student learning in library and computer skills. > Full story
