I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Eugeniu Grigorescu as the new director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE). Eugeniu has been at The University of Scranton since 1998. In his first position at the University, he worked as an instructional technologist in the Office of Instructional Technologies. In that capacity, he guided the implementation of technology in the classrooms, assisted in the technology design of Brennan Hall, and served as Blackboard course administrator.
Grigorescu joined the CTLE in 2004 as the center's instructional curriculum
designer. He provided instructional and program design for the development and support of traditional and web-based courses and assisted faculty in the design of instruction and the development of instructional resources. He became associate director of CTLE in 2007. In that role, he analyzed and assisted in the evaluation of the usage and effectiveness of services delivered by the CTLE, administered the Writing Center program and collaborated with the CTLE director and faculty liaisons in determining faculty needs for teaching enhancement opportunities. For the spring 2011 semester, Grigorescu served as the CTLE's interim director.
Grigorescu received a B.A. in sociology and a M.S. in instructional technologies from Bloomsburg University. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in instructional systems at Penn State University. His interests are in distance education, most specifically web-based, as well as constructivist learning environments.
Please join me in welcoming Eugeniu to the director's position.
