Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection Grows

The Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection continues to grow, with the addition of a couple hundred printing blocks recently retrieved from the company warehouse in Columbus, Ohio. Besides their intrinsic aesthetic and historical interest, the blocks are still usable and Special Collections Librarian Michael Knies took some to local conservation bookbinder and printer Don Rash to experiment with printing a number of images. We are hoping to make some available for purchase as notecards and greeting cards. In the meantime, more than 1,300 items have been catalogued by Shelli McHugh and her technical services staff and a substantial number of images from the collection have been added to our ContentDM site by Kristen Yarmey. The online information can now be conveniently accessed through a Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection Website at
