Nabil A. Tamimi, Ph.D.
EXCELLENCE IN THE SCHOLARSHIP OF TEACHING AND LEARNING
Dr. Tamimi joined the University in 1993. He received his bachelors from Penn State, his MBA from The University of Scranton, and his doctorate from Temple. He was promoted to full professor in 2003 and has been serving as the chairperson of the Operations Management Department since 2007. Nabil has taught over 214 courses in the department and has received a few awards in the KSOM already: Alperin Teaching Fellow, Students’ Choice Award and the professor of the Year Award.
At the University of Scranton and around the world online programming is making education more accessible. Dr. Tamimi has collaborated with Dr. Rose Sebastianelli (who won this award in 2009), to design and deliver on-line courses with high intensity student engagement – a hallmark of Scranton programs in any mode of delivery. Their groundbreaking scholarship includes “Business Statistics and Management Science Online: Teaching Strategies and Assessment of Student Learning” published in Journal of Education for Business, and they have elucidated the determinants of student learning and satisfaction in online teaching environments and have made available to the world a rigorously developed scale to measure quality of online MBSA courses.
