Riaz Hussain, Ph.D.
Dr. Riaz Hussain is celebrating his 46th year on the faculty at The University of Scranton. His first 18 years were in the department of physics but decided that finance was more interesting pursuit that physics. Riaz received his BS from Forman College, Pakistand, and his MS from University of Punjab, Pakistan. He earned his MBA from The University of Scranton, and his doctoral degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Lehigh University.
Riaz has served as the director of the MBA program and has been named a Alperin Teaching Fellow. Since 1999 he has been the faculty moderator of PRISM -Portfolio of Responsible Investments Under Student Management – a group which manages about a quarter of a million dollars of the University’s endowment. As imam of the Campus Mosque, dr. Hussain is the spiritual leader of about 150 families in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties, including many of the University’s internationals students.
Riaz is recognized for his gracious collegiality and genuine concern for others. He is an ambassador of good will promoting cross-cultural and interfaith understanding, respect and cooperation.
