Andrew Torba, a student in the class of 2013 who is enrolled in the Kania School’s new entrepreneurship minor, brought the Smit-Webster Founders Award to The University of Scranton this year with his championship entry in the 10th annual Great Valley Business Plan Competition.  Sponsored by the Great Valley Technology Alliance, the competition is “designed to stimulate innovative thinking to leverage a technology-driven economy while retaining our region's talent.”

The prestigious award comes with $30,000 of support for his rapidly expanding social-media management and education service, Kuhcoon LLC.  “We empower business owners to use social media to market themselves and drive sales,” Mr. Torba explained.  “We provide them with interactive video lessons that teach them how to use the platform, with analytical figures that can show them here’s what you’re doing wrong and here’s what you’re doing right, and with recommendations based on their activity and their knowledge of social media.”
