James F. Boyle, CPA, MBA, has over 27 years of professional experience in auditing and accounting, including 14 years working for international and regional CPA firms and 13 years as the University of Scranton’s internal auditor. James became a full-time faculty specialist at the University of Scranton in the fall 2012. Prior to becoming a full-time faculty specialist, James taught auditing, financial accounting, and managerial accounting as a part-time adjunct for 3 years at the University of Scranton.
 
James brings extensive practical experience and knowledge in his areas of teaching specialty: auditing and business communications. James also teaches financial accounting, managerial accounting, and accounting information systems. James is also the University of Scranton Accounting Internship Moderator.

During James’ auditing career he has managed financial statement audit engagements, helped to bring about significant improvements in internal controls, and was instrumental in establishing construction cost controls that resulted in substantial financial recoveries. James also served as chair of various corporate committees, including a finance area information security committee.

James received a B.S in accounting (graduating magna cum laude) and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Scranton. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in business administration degree at Kennesaw State University with an expected completion date in spring 2015. After James’ recent transition to academia, he has co-authored several professional articles in various practitioner journals, including The CPA Journal, the Pennsylvania CPA Journal, and Internal Auditing.
