Faculty / Student Research

Most renowned psychology programs offer few opportunities for undergraduates to conduct research with faculty. Not so at the University of Scranton!

We encourage all of our students to engage in research. In fact, Scranton pyschology students present and publish with faculty at a much higher rate than national norms. In 2018-2019, for instance, 41 of our psychology and neuroscience undergraduates presented at research conferences.

Our students gain psychology research experience through four avenues. They can:

  • Volunteer their time as a research assistant without academic credit.
  • Take part in the Faculty/Student Research Program, a university-wide program for undergraduates. Although students do not receive academic credit, the research is noted on their transcripts.
  • Enroll in Undergraduate Research in Psychology (PSYC 493 and 494), which provides both academic credit and transcript recognition.
  • Conduct research and write a thesis as part of the Honors Program.
