Coming January 2013: The Philippine Tropical Organisms and Ecosystems course
Tentative travel dates: Jan 5 to 27, 2013
This course is limited to life sciences majors (Biology, Biochemistry, BCMB, Neuroscience, Biomath, Biophysics) and minors, as well as Asian Studies Concentration students. This course also fulfills the Cultural Diversity (D) requirements.
This three-week travel course focuses on the diversity of tropical ecosystems found in the Philippines, with special emphasis on coral reefs. The planned activities include rainforest treks with local tribespeople, hike into a volcanic crater lake, island hopping, cave exploring, and of course, lots and lots of snorkeling. Students must be physically fit, and swimming ability is highly recommended.
Tentative Costs: $3300 - includes airfare, all activities, travel and accommodations in the Philippines, some meals (but not drinks), spending money (to cover the other meals); excludes Intersession tuition (you are charged for ONE credit instead of three, currently at $955)
